I am a native English speaker (born in the United States). I also have extensive experiencing working into British English, as I am highly familiar with this variant, as well as British culture. 13 years living in Spain allowed me to gain a thorough knowledge of Spanish language, history and culture. I was able to obtain the Diploma of Spanish as Foreign Language (DELE) at the highest level after just two years in Spain. I have been working as a translator for 20 years, 10 years full-time. I translate exclusively from Spanish to English. My main area of specialization has been travel and tourism, working with both private companies and local/regional tourism organizations. This includes history, culture, gastronomy, hotels and catering, tourist trails and leisure activities. I work regularly with several children's and young adult literature publishers. This has included translation of picture books, chapter books, catalogues and promotional materials, as well as providing synopses of new titles for the purpose of selling foreign rights. I have worked with several publishers of educational materials for primary and secondary. Projects have included course books, teacher's guides and supplementary materials, and answer keys). I also currently provide British English to American English transcreation services.
